  • What is dimensional weight, and how do I calculate it?"
Dimensional weight, or dim weight, is the calculation of how much space packages take up in a truck. Take the Length x Width x Height and divide the answer by 139. The resulting number is the dim weight. For example: 12in x 5in x 7in = 420. Now 420 ÷ 139 = 3.02. If your actual weight is 1lb you will be charged for 4 lbs (Important to note, they always round up to the next whole number, with lb and dims 1.2 inches becomes 2 inches etc.). Carriers will charge the higher of the 2 weights (dim or actual).
  • How do I calculate package weight?
If your package doesnt weigh a whole number then round up to the nearest whole number Example: if your package weighs 3.4 lbs round up to 4 lbs. This applies to dimensions as well. Example 7.6 inches will become 8 inches
  • How do I calculate my package dimensions?
If your package dimensions don't come out to a whole number then round up to the nearest whole number Example 7.6 inches will become 8 inches This applies to weight as well. Example: if your package weighs 3.4 lbs round up to 4 lbs.

  • Customs Authority
When importing items into Israel there are Commodity restrictions and taxes. The following is our understanding of the law and should not be looked at as a legal authority. When sending a package with contents valuing over $75 to Israel, customs will typically charge 17% of the value in import tax. The receiver of the shipment will be responsible to pay any customs fees associated with the shipment. NOTICE! The Israeli Customs Authority can and does physically open and inspect packages to verify the commercial invoice is accurate. If they find discrepancies, they can levy fines and taxes on the package. SYK does not deal with issues arising from incorrect commercial invoices or resulting tax/stuck package issues.
  • What is a commercial invoice
A commercial invoice is a document that declares the contents of the package to the customs agency. It helps them determine if any taxes are due on a shipment. Commercial invoices typicaly include: 1. The shipper information (may include an ID number) 2. A line by line discription of the contents 3. The value of each item 4. Package information (tracking number, weight etc.) The package will get held up in customs if it doesn't include an invoice.
  • Import Restrictions
The Israeli customs restricts certain commodities in the case you are shipping such items you may need to include special paperwork and\or import permits from the appropriate agency. Items may include: Food Medicine Agriculture Medical support items like PPE Hazards material (if allowed by DHL) If your shipping something that may be restricted, its best to get the paperwork from the correct government agency before you ship.
